RESTON, Va. -- In response to the order issued on Sept. 20 by Judge Quinn in the iPCS case in Cook County, Illinois, Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) fully expects to be operating the iDEN (Nextel) network nationwide, including the iPCS territories, for the foreseeable future. iPCS territories include areas in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska and a small part of Indiana.
Sprint Nextel will immediately seek a stay of judgment and then will appeal the court's decision. The court ruled on Aug. 14, 2006, in this case that Sprint's merger with Nextel violated Sprint's agreement with the iPCS, Inc. affiliate called iPCS Wireless.
