Shakespeare and the Politics of Protestant England examines the political-legal-ecclesiastical skirmishes in England in the last decade of the sixteenth century and the first decade of the seventeenth, and seeks to show how variously but completely these are reflected in six of Shakespeare's plays, three Elizabethan and three Jacobean.
