Sep. 22--Farmers in North Georgia and Southeast Tennessee are still weathering the financial burden of this year's drought, they said.
More than a month after 155 Georgia counties got federal designation as agricultural disaster areas, farmers aren't much better off as far as crops are concerned, and federal assistance is not available yet to aid farm finances. Six Tennessee counties have been deemed eligible for federal assistance, with eight others waiting to be approved, officials said.
