Indian art piece sold for USD 1,360,000 in New York
London, Sept 24 (PTI) Modern and contemporary Indian art seems to have come of age with the work of one of the artists from the country fetching a fabulous USD 1,360,000 at a New York sale this week.
At the Modern and Contemporary Indian Art sale held in New York on Wednesday, Indian Francis Newton Souza's 'Man and Woman', 1954, realised 1,360,000 dollars - more than quadrupling its pre-sale estimate - and was bought by an Indian hedge fund manager, leading auctioneer Christie's said.
