The UK Podcasters Association (UKPA) is teaming up with the Association of Online Publishers (AOP) to lobby the government into contesting the World Intellectual Property Organisation's Broadcast Treaty.
The proposed treaty, which could be passed as early as July 2007, will layer a new set of rights on top of copyright so that podcasters will need to obtain permission from broadcasting companies for audio or video usage.
It will also give broadcasters the ability to silence podcasters who depend on the use of copyrighted materials.
