First Data Corp.'s Western Union Co. said Friday it is fighting an effort by Arizona's attorney general to seize money transfers initiated in 28 other states.
In a securities filing, the Englewood, Colo., money transmitter said the attorney general's office had obtained a warrant for the seizure from the state court. Western Union said a federal court had turned down its request to issue a temporary restraining order, and that the unit would "seek a stay of the seizure warrant and other judicial review... to appropriately protect the rights and privacy of its consumers."
