Hutchinson SA is taking advantage of the UK's low costs for rubber manufacturing and injecting capital and technology into the UK site

In January 1993, French rubber manufacturing conglomerate Hutchinson SA bought the UK automotive profiles maker Russells Rubber Co. Ltd, based in Telford, for pound6.75 million. This is Hutchinson's first venture into manufacture in the UK and it is now "gearing up to take advantage of moves in Europe to utilise the UK as a low cost base," said Andrew Ward, managing director of Hutchinson UK, as the Telford operation is now called.
