Saudi Arabia could slow its intense drilling program if there is a global economic recession or a collapse in oil demand growth, but its current upstream capacity expansion program at six fields is on track for completion in 2009, according to Saudi Aramco Chief Executive Abdullah Jumah.
"It's fully committed, the money is spent," Jumah told Oil Daily on the margins of an Opec seminar in Vienna.
Jumah said that Aramco had launched all six major field expansions--at Abu Hadriyah, Fadhili, Khursaniyah, Shaybah, Nuayyim and Khurais--for completion by 2009 and there was no going back on this commitment, as it was state policy to maintain the targeted 1.5 ...
