TOKYO, Sept 25 Asia Pulse - Japanese firms Hankyu Department Stores Inc. (TSE:8242) and Hanshin Department Store Ltd. said Friday they have agreed to a comprehensive business alliance.

With an eye on future integration, the firms will start by cross-shareholding 20,000 shares each from the end of the month. Hankyu Department Stores will purchase 0.05 per cent of shares in its counterpart from Hanshin Electric Railway Co. (TSE:9043). In turn, Hanshin Department Store will buy 0.01 per cent of Hankyu Department Stores shares on the market.
