West Lafayette, Ind. -- It looks as if the Gophers running back situation is starting to take shape.

Amir Pinnix, who started the season No. 3 on the depth chart, made a strong case to be the featured tailback with a solid performance in a 27-21 loss to Purdue on Saturday.

Pinnix, a junior, rushed for 173 yards on 28 carries, and also caught three passes for 47 yards. The Gophers got only 27 rushing yards on 11 carries from the rest of their running backs.

Afterward, Pinnix was hesitant to discuss his individual performance.
