As a mother who has seen up close the potential for tragedy when a child's medical needs are unmet, Kathleen Sellick says there is "no higher calling" than being the new chief executive officer of Rady Children's Hospital and Health Center.
Almost 80 percent of children under the age of 19, excluding newborns, needing hospitalization in San Diego County are treated at Children's. Sellick's goal is to make that 100 percent.
