LEADING Llyn sheep farmer was hit with an pounds 8,200 fine yesterday after pleading guilty to a string of animal cruelty charges.
Owen Arfon Jones, of Bron Miod, Llanaelhaearn, also pleaded guilty to failing to dispose of carcasses and failing to keep proper records at Pwllheli magistrates' court. The 43-year-old must also pay pounds 1,762.50 prosecution costs.
Magistrates heard how a trading standards officer and a vet visited the farm on a number of occasions in September last year and found rotting sheep carcasses.
Some lambs were maggot infested, dehydrated and barely able to stand.
