Before her son Colin started kindergarten, Ingrid Olson visited 10 Minneapolis and suburban schools seeking the right fit.
She found it at Bethune, a small public school in north Minneapolis that focuses on art and technology and boasts an experienced and welcoming staff.
Olson was looking for racial diversity, but there's just one problem with Bethune's diversity. It's not very diverse. The student body is 96 percent minority and 93 percent low-income.
