Sep. 28--"An inspired twist on casual dining," is how the ads describe Mosaic, the new restaurant inside the Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel.
Inspired by whom, the ads do not say, but Grand Lux Cafe seems like a good bet. A lot about this three-month-old restaurant reminds me of Grand Lux, which is The Cheesecake Factory's more sophisticated, Michigan Avenue sibling. There is the something-for-everyone menu (Mosaic's menu offers 60 dishes), the dabbling in Mexican and Asian (mostly Thai and Chinese) flavors, the moderate prices (most entrees are in the $15-$17 range, though steaks climb as high as $26).
