The Hampshire village board has approved plans that will bring more than 500 homes to the village.
In a 3-2 vote Thursday night, the board approved the Lakewood Crossing subdivision, which Lakewood Homes plans to build on about 190 acres at Big Timber and Briar Hill roads. Roughly half of the 540 units would be single-family homes; the other half would be duplexes.
Lakewood's construction schedule will not be affected by a moratorium on residential building Hampshire imposed in June. The moratorium was put in place after Lakewood first approached the village because the village's sewer system could ...
