Sep. 29--HARLINGEN -- Walter Roberts walked into the Harlingen Community Center to the sound of "ping....pong...ping...pong." Although the 11-year-old was the only youth in the room, he didn't hesitate to jump into the table tennis game. The Harlingen Table Tennis Club will host the Rio Grande Valley Youth Open Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday at the Harlingen Community Center. In conjunction with the city of Harlingen Parks and Recreation Department, children 8 to 10 years old will be able to participate. A variety of people attend the club's bi-weekly gatherings, said Bob Salmeron, coach for the club.
