Sep. 29--POWAY -- Private space flight pioneer Jim Benson has founded a new company that plans to launch routine private space travel as early as 2009.
Benson Space Co. expects to attract thrill-seekers who'd enjoy the distinction of becoming astronauts by reaching suborbital space, Benson said Thursday. The longtime chief executive of Poway's SpaceDev, Benson is resigning that role to devote his attention to the new company.
