Sep. 30--RICHLAND HILLS -- Byron Nelson became famous through golf. He dominated the game in the 1940s by setting records that many believe will last forever.
But it was his humble nature, gentle demeanor and selfless obsession to help others that endeared him to so many. Those qualities were the dominant theme Friday when family, friends, professional golfers and other dignitaries honored his memory.
"We can debate which man was the greatest golfer," said Rick Atchley, minister at Richland Hills Church of Christ. "But there's no debate as to which golfer was the greatest man."
