Sep. 30--When I lucked into the chance to buy a pair of season tickets to Virginia Tech football games I anticipated an atmosphere I'd enjoyed several times before -- with marching bands, cheerleaders, dance squads, instant replays on the big screen, 66,000 fans jumping, screaming, applauding and, when appropriate (some would say never), booing.
But I also encountered an old friend: exhaustion.
I know, you're thinking, "What about the players?"
The players practice almost every day.
Introverts like me avoid big crowds and loud noises the way extroverts avoid monasteries.
