Oct. 1--Half of Minnesota deer hunters favor earlier seasons that target antlerless (doe) deer as a way to control an ever-growing deer herd, according to a new survey from the Department of Natural Resources.
About 50 percent of 3,300 surveyed deer hunters said they support antlerless seasons, likely held in October, as a management tool. Though not a mandate, the results mean the DNR could expand such seasons to parts of the state within the next two years.
