Article: New site assessment requirements soon go into effect.(ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT)(Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act of 2002)

On Jan. 11, 2002, President Bush signed the Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act, better known as the brownfields law. The act accomplished the following:

1. Amended the Superfund law.

2. Provided funds to assess and clean up brownfields sites

3. Clarified Superfund liability provisions for certain landowners, and

4. Provided funding to enhance state and tribal cleanup programs.
