Mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson announced Monday that it is looking to be one of the top three players in the worldwide market.

The Sony, Ericsson joint venture, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, announced the new target as it aims to build on the success of its popular handsets such as the walkman phone and the K800.

"We have the resources and the drive to become one of the top three players in our sector," said Mile Flint, president of Sony Ericsson.
