To its chagrin, the NBA finds that it needs Charles Barkley.
Desperately so.
And now more than ever.
And, to Barkley's considerable delight, at the precise moment when he is making those retiring noises again.
But he won't be leaving. Not yet.
He knows opportunity when he sees it, and so you expect him to milk this for all that it is worth.
Besides, the team that almost everyone (blush) picked to win the title is gone. Without Seattle, the West is suddenly invitingly open. There is a title for the taking.
