For every story about drunken football fans ruining the day for someone else, you'll find hundreds of stories about how sports draw people together in wonderful ways.
But, as the drumroll quickens for Saturday's Oklahoma-Oregon game at Autzen Stadium, you'll not find another story quite like the Carters'.
It was March 2001 in Edmond, Okla. Marl Carter, a semi-retired real estate loan broker, was mentioning to his family that he'd never met another person named "Marl," much less one named "Marl Carter."
