Last year, it took a recount for the New Glarus Brewing Co. to be honored as the nation's top medium-sized brewery.
This year, the results were clearer at the 25th annual Great American Beer Festival.
New Glarus was named best mid-size brewing company for 2006 and co-owner Dan Carey was named mid-sized brewer of the year.
The three-day festival sponsored by the Beer Association of Denver, Colo., generally is recognized as the nation's premier beer-tasting contest both for mainstream brewers and the smaller "craft" brewers.
