NEW YORK -- Sales of disposable diapers rose a respectable 4.6% in drug stores in the past year, although a decline in unit volume reveals that the growth may have resulted in part from price increases.
Still, individual brands performed well by both dollar and unit measures. No. 1 Huggies from Kimberly-Clark Corp. posted a 12% dollar increase and a 4.6% unit gain, while No. 5 Pampers Swaddlers from Procter & Gamble Co. saw dollars and units rise 11.7% and 6.8%, respectively.
Both Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Cruisers now feature a mesh Absorb Away Liner to help capture wetness and absorb any runny mess, keeping it away from babies' skin.
