Oct. 4--A consultant hired to study the possibility of an amphitheater determined that if Roanoke builds it, they will come. They, meaning musical acts on their way up or out. And they, meaning the ticket-buying audience throughout the region.
Just because they'll come, though, doesn't mean Roanoke should build. Roanoke's leaders and citizens still must decide where an amphitheater falls on the growing list of wishes. Because right now, Roanoke's wish list looks as scattered and as expectant as a 5-year-old's hopeful scrawls to Santa that increase in length as Christmas Eve approaches.
