SAN JOSE, Calif. _ Roger Kornberg was only 12 when he first visited Stockholm, the proud eldest son of 1959 Nobel Laureate Arthur Kornberg.
He returns this December to pick up his own medal _ science's highest honor _ accompanied by his proud father. Roger Kornberg, now 59 and a professor at Stanford University's School of Medicine, on Wednesday was awarded the 2006 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Kornberg became the third Bay Area scientist in as many days to receive the prestigious award, underscoring the growing preeminence of the Bay Area and its research institutions among world scientific centers such as Boston and ...
