A Los Angeles businessman was sentenced recently to four years in a federal prison for selling fake Soft Sheen products.

Tae S. Kim will do prison time for selling counterfeit hair-care products that deprived Chicago-based Soft Sheen of $3 million in sales, said Amy Herzog, a company spokeswoman.

For six months in 1992, a number of stores purchased the products from Kim, although they knew he wasn't associated with the Chicago-based firm.
