WASHINGTON -- Defenders of the ban on Alaska North Slope (ANS) crude exports do not appear to see any room for compromise on the issue, despite the arguments of economists who suggest the benefits could be shared widely.
Compromise is out of the question because the calculations of large benefits do not look realistic, said Howard Marlowe, director of the Coalition to Keep Alaska Oil.
A Thursday hearing in Anchorage, Alaska, allowed the Department of Energy (DOE) to hear more views on whether the department should propose an end to the ban.
