A reader pointed out that I made an error in my column last week about Gifford Street High School's newly elected student council president.
I mistakenly wrote that junior Yvette Morales was part of the alternative school's first student council as a freshman; she actually was part of the council that was revived that year after not existing for several.
Jorge Lopez, who graduated from Gifford in 2001, wrote to tell me that in fact he was part of Gifford's first student council.
According to Lopez, sub-par school lunches spurred students to push for some say in the way their school was run.
