SAN JOSE, Calif. _ The final dose of Sharkmania was administered in downtown San Jose on Tuesday as thousands dressed in teal and black paid a raucous tribute to an overachieving hockey team that had captured their hearts.
About 10,000 people gathered on the lawn of the Children's Discovery Museum to salute the Sharks, a team that had been written off by National Hockey League experts at the beginning of the season but one that proved them wrong with crisp play and playoff victories _ stunning the heavily favored Detroit Red Wings and then engaging the Toronto Maple Leafs in a full seven-game series before falling in the Western Conference semifinals.
