Storm, by whatever name, to linger with rain through Sunday: Technically, the weather system over Hampton Roads is not a nor'easter. It's just acting like one.

A nor'easter, that is.

The name sounds cool, but the storm that's bringing gusty winds and rain is really a coastal storm in which the winds happen to come from the northeast.

At least that's what some meteorologists say. Others are calling it a nor'easter.

Either way, it's a storm that has already knocked out power in parts of Hampton Roads, forced cancellations of outdoor events and could cause some coastal flooding.

"It's not technically a nor'easter," said Rick Curry with the National Weather Service in Wakefield. "Hanging a name onto it is a way to get attention."
