Sustained demand growth in the world
The total capacity of methanol in the world was 41.175 million t/a in 2005. The capacity was 3.646 million t/a in North America, 10. 629 million t/a in South America, 7.685 million t/a in Europe, 8.909 million t/a in the Middle East and North Africa and 10.306 million t/ a in the Asia-Pacific region. The total capacity of methanol units with a capacity over 300 thousand t/a in the world reached 30.512 million t/a, accounting for 74.1% of the world total.
