Oct. 9--Naming a minor league baseball team is serious business.
Pick the right name and the right logo, and people in your stadium, your community and even across the country will snap up your hats and shirts. The only reason I've worn caps from the Carolina Mudcats, Augusta Green Jackets and Portland Beavers, among other minor league teams, was because their logos were cool. Chuck Domino, president of the Triple A team coming to the Lehigh Valley in 2008, said it's not just about merchandising dollars and cents, but also about the team's image. The right name can spin off into a good logo, slogan, colors, even ballpark ...
