In this monograph, Murray, an anthropologist, and Sanders, a historian, successfully revisit the gruesome medicine murders (the liretlo killings) that occurred in colonial Basutoland (now Lesotho) during the 1940s. The work is timely, given the incompleteness of G.I. Jones's 1951 report on these murders to government, and also because the high court files, the only source of primary data on these killings, is now inaccessible to researchers.
