Oct. 8--Butte has a reputation for falling behind national trends when it comes to things like hairstyles and entertainment.
But staying out of the mainstream can be a good thing when it comes to real estate.
"The national real estate market is really taking a hit," said Mike McLeod, broker/owner of McLeod Realtors. "Butte is pretty well insulated to all of that." American home prices had their first major drop in 11 years in August, with the median home price -- at $225,000 -- down 1.7 percent from the year before, the National Association of Realtors said.
