Oceanside community becoming 'Wall Street West'
"The People's Republic of Santa Monica is old hat...Santa Monica is quietly becoming a financial center in Southern California."
So declares Joseph Di Lillo, chairman and CEO of Drake Capital, a Santa Monica-based investment advisory firm. And a quick address check supports that assertion. Several heavy hitters in the financial community -- Strome, Suskind & Co., Wilshire Associates, Geico Funds, Dimensional Fund Advisors and others -- have set up shop within the eight square miles of oceanside real estate known as Santa Monica.
