Our soundhole pickup Shootout was a perfect opportunity to sample a pair of brand new acoustic amps--Crate's CA125D and Marshall's Acoustic Soloist. Though neither was in the stores at the time of this article, we were able to obtain pre-production models with the caveat they'd still be a little wet behind the ears. For example, the Crate's knobs were hand-painted, and its DSP software wasn't the correct version. The Marshall arrived with some mislabeled graphics and the wrong reverb tank.
