Oct. 12--America's ballistic missile defense system has a worldwide mission and must be able to overcome both local landscapes and vast distances, the Army's missile defense commander said Wednesday in Omaha.
"If you're going to go global, you have to defeat geography," said Lt. Gen. Larry Dodgen of the Army Space and Missile Defense Command. "We need more robust space capabilities to defeat geography." Dodgen spoke at the Strategic Space and Defense conference. More than 2,000 military officers, aerospace industry leaders and federal officials are attending the meeting at the Qwest Center Omaha.
