Oct. 12--A doctor, a DJ and the host of "Das Karnival" walk into a radio station. The result of the encounter is not a punchline but a project facilitated by Kevin Walsh, the voice of KOPN's "The Good Life;" Jason Cafer, the doctor and mastermind behind local label Painfully Midwestern; and a man known only as Ian Cogneato, the host of the Columbia Access Television program. The on-air arbitration between three proponents and promoters of local music set the wheels in motion for the creation of "Das Kompilation," a 21-track compilation of songs from several bands that make up Columbia's current music scene.
