The Persian Gulf War of 1991 between the United States and Iraq was unique in many respects. It has been termed a "media" war, and live news coverage of the war was greater than in any previous war. It was an "orderly" war with a definite period of build-up and a definite military beginning and end. For thos interested in transportation and logistics, the war offered an example of military logistics at its best, as well as an opportunity to examine the relation ship of the military war effort and the commercial transportation industries.
