Ready to "fall into the fold," West Coast Video Duplicating Inc. (Brisbane, CA) is in the midst of "very serious negotiations" with JVC to become a licensed VHS duplicator, chairman and CEO John Roth said. Roth admits that West Coast recently lost a large premium deal because the advertiser wanted a JVC-licensed duplicator. Industry talk is tarnishing the image of unlicensed duplicators, he said. Meanwhile, the third largest U.S. duplicator continues to expand capacity. When its new Valencia plant is fully operational this April, West Coast will have the capability of duping 10 million units/month in terms of T-120s.
