WASHINGTON _ Black children are facing one of their worst crises since slavery, children's advocate Marian Wright Edelman said Wednesday in announcing results of a national survey on the feelings, fears and hopes of black adults and children.
``The poll confirms that the black child crisis, one of the worst since slavery, is real,'' said Edelman, president of the Children's Defense Fund.
``The disturbing news is that this is just the tip of the American iceberg of pervasive child and family neglect, and the disintegration of spiritual, community and family values across race and class.''
