BY turns chatty and controversial, Woman's Hour has been a constant in the lives of British women since the end of the Second World War.
Last Friday, the BBC Radio 4 show celebrated its 60th anniversary of championing the female perspective on politics, the family, sex and health.
Sue MacGregor CBE - Woman's Hour presenter from 1972 to 1987 - believes the programme's popularity stems from the early days when it was one of the first radio shows to cultivate an interactive relationship with its listeners.
