Buried in time: La Crosse celebrates 150 years with time capsule dedication.

Oct. 15--Underneath the gray marble slab on the site where La Crosse began will sit a glimpse of life in 2006. "This is preserving our history and saving a snapshot of La Crosse, Wis., today," said Sesquicentennial Committee member Dave Clements. "This will give historians and people in 50 years a personal view of what life was like." The city and Sesquicentennial Committee dedicated a Sesquicentennial time capsule at a brisk Saturday morning ceremony at Spence Park as part of the Historic Downtown Days held to coincide with the city's 150th celebration.

The capsule will be exhumed in 2056 during the city's bicentennial celebration. ...
