The mandate of the UN Angola Verification Mission (UNAVEM II) was extended on 15 December for three more months, until 16 March 1994, against a backdrop of new talks between the Government of Angola and the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) in Lusaka, Zambia.
By unanimously adopting resolution 890 (1993), the Security Council decided not to add new measures to the existing oil and arms embargo against UNITA, which went into effect on 2 5 September under resolution 864.
