Oct. 15--When the United States population hit 200 million in 1967, central Ohio and the Buckeye State were booming. This week, as the nation hits another population milestone, local growth has slowed and the state is nearly stagnant. The U.S. Census Bureau says the nation will reach 300 million residents at 7:46 a.m. Tuesday, give or take a few seconds. The 100 million additional people who either immigrated or were born here since 1967 are responsible for the biggest growth spurt in U.S. history.
