NEW YORK -- Slowly but surely, homeopathy and natural remedies are catching on in America's chain drug stores.
"The category is on the verge of booming in the mass market," Curt Finckler, senior brand manager for the United States wing of British homeopathic supplier A. Nelson & Co. Ltd., says optimistically. "Homeopathy is becoming more understandable for the general consumer."
Industry insiders say that U.S. retailers' and shoppers' acceptance of homeopathy and natural remedies has been much slower than in other parts of the world, where the products have been part of almost every pharmacy's mix for more than a century.
