Gay and lesbian rights groups are outraged that the Civil Unions Bill falls a step short of granting full marriage to same-sex couples and aims to establish a separate legal institution for same-sex couples.
For couples like Mapaseka Letsike and Lesego Magwai, the proposed separate legal structure is not good enough.
"Marriage is not just about legal rights," says Letsike. "The law should recognise the humanity of everyone, in the same way."
